goalie and you could tell nerves were kicking in. Soon after that the Penguins went on a power play after Maxime Talbot was tripped. Three minutes and three seconds into game one Evgeni Malkin received a pass from Sergi Gonchar and Malkin let it rip giving the pens a one to nothing lead.

Soon after Malkin’s goal Ottawa’s Peter Regin tied the game. With only a few minutes remaining in the first period third liner and goon Chris Neil scored making the score 2-1 in Ottawa’s favor. One minute and twenty seconds into the second Ottawa’s Chris Kelley scored a power play goal giving Ottawa a two-goal advantage. Malkin was quick to answer getting his second goal of the game and cutting the sen’s lead to one.

Once again Ottawa was quick to recover when defenseman Erik Karlsson scored another power play goal. Early in the third period the penguin’s Craig Adams scored making the score 4-3 still in favor of Ottawa. The senators got a break away that finished with ex-penguin Jarkko Ruutu (Not American) breaking the back of the penguins or so I thought. Minutes after defensemen Alex Goligoski put one past Elliot once again putting the pens down by one. In the few remaining minutes Pittsburgh pulled their goalie to try and score the tying goal, but despite their valiant effort they came up short. The final was 5-4 Ottawa, game two will be in Pittsburgh on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
