That was all the excitement in the first period minus a few brawls. But, right after the horn sounded and the puck dropped in the second period Ottawa Center Mike Fisher, who is engaged to country singer Carrie Underwood, scored on a power play goal. The Pen’s were quick to answer when Max Talbot forced Senator’s goalie Brian Elliot to make a bad play with the puck, which gave Pen’s Center Evgeni Malkin a good bounce and a wide open net to shoot at.
That goal gave the Pens a 2-1 advantage. Near the end of the second period Penguin’s Captain Sidney Crosby put in a power play goal to give the Pen’s a 3-1 advantage.
The third period wasn’t very exciting until Senator’s Matt Cullen scored with 7:02 left. Penguins’ veteran Billy Guerin lit the lamp for the last time, ending the scoring and the game with a final of 4-2 in favor of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
