Students may have noticed that the Ironmen Hub in the cafeteria is hosting a variety of games this week. Ms. McGinniss, the teller at the Hub, explained that this week is celebrating youth, which includes competitions stretching from the 19th to the 30th. It

is called the “Week of the Child”.

The “Week of the Child” is a week when the Credit Union impresses upon youth and adults methods that will help them to save money for the future.

Teams of three students will compete against each other in three different activities.

The first activity is how many baskets a student can shoot in a minute. The second is how many puzzles can be put together in fifteen seconds. The third and final activity is how many beanbags can be tossed into slots that represent money values.

The top team will win a voucher for Unida Pizza, but the prizes don’t end there. Anyone who opens a new account or makes a deposit into his or her account is entered into separate drawings. These drawings offer a $50 savings bond and other prizes like umbrellas and ball caps. There will be about five drawings.

Students will hopefully attain a better understanding of credit through the information provided and will make better choices when it comes to managing their own money.
