Pennsylvania Runs Eastern Conference Playoffs
by Jeff Ross
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers are both up three games to win in their respected playoff matchups. The Penguins are taking on the Ottawa Senators and the Flyers are taking on their long time rival, the New Jersey Devils. The Pens and the Flyers are playing in two different styles right now.
The Pens played their fast paced style, in which their stars, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby, do a majority of their scoring, but players such as defenseman, Kris Letang and defenseman, Alex Goligoski step up and score big goals. Some students at DHS may know Alex Goligoski from his earlier years as a Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguin.
The Flyers style of play also hasn’t changed. The Flyers are a team that try to out play teams via physicality. They are a team that gets momentum from big hits and fights; the Flyer’s crowd also enjoys the bone crushing style of the play. The Flyer’s scoring comes consistently from captain Mike Richards and the Flyer’s always have different players stepping out to score big goals. The Pens and Flyers both should end their playoff matchups tonight.
