No Place for Hate Paints a Picture for DHS

June 4th, 2010

by Jeff Hauck

On Wednesday, May 26, there was a ceremony to dedicate the the new mural created for  No Place for Hate initiative at the high school. The mural was painted by Vada Majors with help from many students. The project supported the Danville High School’s policy of tolerance and respect for other people.

The ceremony happened in the lobby outside the ramp to  Mr. Bloom’s room.  There were representatives from all the grades in the school district except for the third grade class which was on a field trip.

The art piece according to Mrs. Jennifer Gursk, high school assistant principal, is “a mural that speaks to diversity and tolerance.” It has the words honor and respect which represent the Danville Area School District’s goal of a No Place for Hate school.
