There are many interesting students that are enrolled at Danville High School and there are a few that need some form of recognition. Sarah Grace Maize and Emily Holmes are but two of these select few.

Sarah Grace Maize was born on May 14th, 1992 at Geisinger in Danville, Pennsylvania. It was, as she described, “a day of labor and then I came into the world.” Although Maize has learned and benefited from her years of experience and has given up her childhood aspiration of becoming a zebra, she has never seemed to relinquish her youthfulness. Maize is often found

laughing, hysterically and nonsensically.

Some of Maize’s favorite things are also as amusing as she is. Her favorite foods include nachos and anything from Taco Bell, a restaurant she has pledged her undying love for. Her favorite color is a baby blue and her favorite hobbies are dancing and singing. Maize has been dancing at Catherine Treon’s School of Dance for twelve years.

Maize has three pets: two cats, Mini-cat and Puff Kiddy, and a dog, Rocko. She also has a brother, Ian Maize, who she described as being “a strange child”.  Maize wonders how she has survived in the same household in which her brother resides.
When asked about colleges, Maize stated, “I’m going to go to Shippensburg Honors College, and I’m going to major in Biology. I’m still debating between becoming a counselor and a physician’s assistant after I get out of college though.”

The other featured senior, Emily Holmes, also leads an interesting life. Holmes was born on June 18th, 1992 and grew up in Hughesville. Her childhood included a love of good fashion and jewelry and having some very stylish bangs. She attended Mahoning Cooper after she came to Danville and interestingly enough, in the fifth grade sat next to Nathan Coleman.

Holmes has a brother, Joel, and two dogs, which are Westies, named Sherlock and Wesley.

Holmes explained, “Obviously we had to name one of the dogs Sherlock. As in, Sherlock Holmes.”

Holmes also has an interesting group of favorites. She loves to collect Vera Bradley and enjoys keeping up with her fashion. Her favorite food is the five-layer burrito from Taco Bell, and her favorite color is chartreuse.

Holmes plans on attending the University of Pittsburgh and majoring in Economics. When asked about a potential career, Holmes stated, “I’m not really sure what I’m going to do yet, probably something involved with a bank.”

Holmes and Maize also share a great friendship. They are very proud of each other and have even written a short story together, titled “Islec and Voki.” Apparently the story is about their friendship.

Although Holmes and Maize are going their separate ways after their senior year concludes, they vowed to keep in touch and not let their friendship diminish. Both senior girls plan on spending a good portion of the summer together before they go off to college in the fall.
