Relay for Life, an event that raises awareness of the effects of cancer and raises funds for the American Cancer Society, came to Danville  on Friday, May 5th. This started a fun and successful weekend.

The annual walk to raise money for cancer was held at the Danville Middle School. There were many stands that provided participants with entertaining activities, such as trivia contests and bean bag tosses when they weren’t walking.

Some students were on Danville teams and walked laps while others attended to support the relay and donate to cancer.

Students who hung out also took time to participate in whiffle ball, frisbee and other backyard games  While it was a very serious occasion there were many fun things to do as well.

While some of the activities were upbeat, like line dancing, the weekend did have a serious side to it.  There was a slide show of people who had passed away because of cancer.  It was fun yet inspirational weekend that raised money and awareness to everyone who participated.
