Taylor Hendrickson holds his kangaroo silly band.

Silly Bandz have taken over the wrists of teens in the high school and of young people across the nation.  Kids, and some adults even, collect and trade Silly Bandz just like the Pokemon cards.  These colorful rubber bands come in fun shapes that include animals, dinosaurs, and even musical instruments.

Senior Talyor Hendrickson says, “My favorites are the duck, kangaroo and my turtle.”  Students also enjoy some of the entertainment they bring.  Sam Zampetti stated, “They’re entertaining to play with in class when you’rebored.”

Her friend Sierra Pequignot said she loves how colorful they are.  Silly Bandz also have a useful side to them as well.  According to Pequignot,  “Some of them glow in the dark to help me see at night, too.”

Silly Bandz  became very popular about two months ago.  Now, they are on wrists, ankles, and even hair is decorated with them.  They can be bought at Hallmark stores, Wal-mart, and other department stores.  There are several different types of “packs”,  such as dinosaurs, instruments, different pets, and the new fantasy pack, which includes dragons, genies, fairies, phoenix, and unicorns.  They cost around five dollars for a pack of twenty-four.
